Systematic proof of authenticity.

From software consulting to selection of a suitable reader: Schreiner ProSecure will support you in successfully integrating BitSecure® into your existing system.

Generation

Each customized Copy Detection Pattern is digitally generated by Schreiner ProSecure.

  • A Copy Detection Pattern is generated based on a random pattern. In addition, the pattern is cryptographically encoded.
  • This customized noise pattern is secured in a database and can be flexibly integrated into the marking layout in terms of shape and colors during the digital pre-press stage. This print image requires a small space of just 12 square millimeters.
  • Every printing or laser process must be validated in order to guarantee a reliable authentication process.
  • Variable information may be encrypted in the pattern as well. Depending on size and print resolution, information of some bytes may be stored in this way. This data may contain the serial number, a KeySecure code or a reference to an order, or batch information.

To check BitSecure®, a proprietary software will be supplied in which the digital profile of the Copy Detection Pattern is stored. Whenever a BitSecure® code is read out, the application compares the scan with the original. Only when the scan matches the original pattern without any deviations, a product or document may be deemed authentic.

The following readers may be used to check BitSecure® patterns:

  • Flat-bed scanners
  • 2-D or Data Matrix Code readers (with adjustment aid)
  • Cell phone cameras with auto-focus lenses or spacers

Combination with Data Matrix Code

Two for any contingency.

Two-dimensional barcodes such as the Data Matrix Code allocate a sequence of numbers to a product and thus make it unambiguously identifiable. In addition, they enable the transmission of product data in an encoded format. The risk presented by the use of Data Matrix Codes is that these codes may be easily replicated. 

BitSecure® mitigates that risk: The counterfeit-protection feature by Schreiner ProSecure provides effective proof of authenticity for branded products. Customers combining the Data Matrix Code with BitSecure® can track and trace their products while insuring their authenticity throughout the supply chain.

Manufacturers who are already using two-dimensional barcodes can easily and reliably integrate BitSecure® into their systems. The Copy Detection Pattern can be read with the same readers used to scan the 2-D codes. This enables code identification and authentication in one-step.

Users benefit from fast processes and automated authentication. This is particularly advantageous for reliable quality management or dealing with potentially unjustified product complaints.
